Father's Day

On this last Father's day I reflected back on the previous Thursday when a father shared with me his anguish over how his girlfriend had had his baby aborted and there was nothing that he could do about it.
Maybe we should have more discussions about how men in this country have been emasculated in that they are legally restricted from defending their preborn children; about the number of men that are suffering emotionally over how their baby that they were willing to love was aborted; about the men who are in anguish over purposefully having their own preborn child aborted; or about the still 3,000+ babies per day that are aborted that have no father/protector and thus qualify as the "Fatherless" that the Bible speaks so much about and commands Christians to defend (Is. 1:17).

Pietist and liberals

I may from time to time post portions of the Book that I have been writing for 20 years, titled "While the Clergy Played Golf"
Here is a couple of paragraphs from the chapter Pietist and Liberals.

One of the things that I got out of Eric Metaxas’ biography of Dietrich Bonhoeffer was his dealings with the pietist and the liberals of his day.  The woman elder at St. John’s Episcopal church who is on the board of Planned Parenthood would be an example to the liberal of our day.  I have witnessed a great # of people go into PP with Christian symbols on their bumpers or hanging from their mirrors.  The liberals- send people to kill their kids.  This is worthless faith based on some loose relationship to a book that they are convinced is full of errors and whose primary purpose is to convict anyone and everyone “not to judge” and to be tolerant toward all except those who they perceive as intolerant.  Their love hurts and leaves a path of bloodshed from the doors of the local abortion mill.  They have their Christian bumper stickers and fishes hanging from their rearview mirrors as the drive into park at Planned Parenthood.  They tell those pleading with them that we are in sin because we are judging and that “God will forgive” them as they go into have their baby murdered.
Christians in my circles are more of the more pietist bent.  The pietist in my circles tend to diminish Christianity down to “study the Bible and have fun”.  We train our young believers from an early age in this and continue this training through the men’s retreats that we encourage them to go to as old men.  Instead of training our youth to go out & witness on Highschool or college campuses or hand out tracts in public arenas or go to the streets to display pictures of aborted preborn babies or intervening in any way on behalf of the victims of this current holocaust, we have them play games and go on youth retreats.  They have very few people in their churches to follow as mentors because this has gone on for generations.  Instead of being exhorted as young people to use their freedom from marriage to be active in ministry we have them at pizza nights on the hunt for a boyfriend or girlfriend (1 Cor. 7:32).  Would they not be better off if we encouraged & trained our young believers to pursue those “good works” which God has prepared for them (Eph. 2:10) and as they are participating in those good works, they may take notice of a person who might (for young men) be a suitable helpmate to them or (as a young woman) that God may have them be a helpmate to?  I praise God when I hear of how He brought couples together in marriage through a ministry that they were both involved with.
Francis Schaefer addresses this problem in his “How shall we then live” series where he talks about the contemporary (then 1982) Christian’s preoccupation with “having fun”.  Francis Schafer spoke prophetically how the church in the states would follow the church in Europe and become irrelevant to the culture if some repentance did not happen.  It did not happen and all the things that he warned would happen have happened.

Mark: Father of 12 children, including 3 that did not survive birth.  I am  convinced that all human beings are of great worth because they are made in the image of God and that it is always wrong to take the life of an innocent human being.
I am further convinced that there is great need for repentance in our nation for all of this innocent bloodshed and amongst Christian's for their failure to identify the victims of this present holocaust in any manor which might compel them to intervene on their behalf.
