Father's Day

On this last Father's day I reflected back on the previous Thursday when a father shared with me his anguish over how his girlfriend had had his baby aborted and there was nothing that he could do about it.
Maybe we should have more discussions about how men in this country have been emasculated in that they are legally restricted from defending their preborn children; about the number of men that are suffering emotionally over how their baby that they were willing to love was aborted; about the men who are in anguish over purposefully having their own preborn child aborted; or about the still 3,000+ babies per day that are aborted that have no father/protector and thus qualify as the "Fatherless" that the Bible speaks so much about and commands Christians to defend (Is. 1:17).

Colorado Right to kill amendment

11/6/2024

We need to persevere in doing good.
I presume that all of us, here in Colorado, are reeling from the passage of Amendment 79.
Over the past 40 years I have been active in trying to intervene on behalf of the victims of this holocaust. I firmly believe that all of our efforts are in vain unless God does a work in the hearts of the people. 2 Tim. 2:25. Obedience is up to us but the results of that obedience are really up to God. Nonetheless, I am still reeling a bit.
After over 20 years of exposing what abortion is to literally hundreds of thousands of people here in Colorado it seems that we have had insufficient impact.
With all the emails and pleading I have done to pastors and Christians to join us on the streets or at the Clinics, we have fewer people coming out than we had 20 years ago. I am glad for the lives that have been spared, the hearts that have been changed and for all the brothers and sisters who have joined us in the last 20+ years here in Colorado.  But numbers do make a difference. I had hopes of getting numbers up such that we could cover multiple intersections on the 3rd Saturday and then to be able to give the organization of this to someone else so that I could focus on other things.
The culture here in the US seems to follow Britain's, where they have just made it illegal to attempt to converse with anyone going to get an abortion, with the intention of trying to dissuade them from having their baby killed. It seems likely that it will be that way in Colorado soon.
On the positive side - I am grateful for the freedoms that we have enjoyed in the past and for all the babies that have been spared without us going to jail.
On the sober side - I lament that we did not do more while we had that freedom.
What now? I plead with you to do what you can now while we have these freedoms. As it becomes more costly to love our neighbors as ourselves. We may be able to persevere more if we endure some hardship and sacrifice now. It seems foolish to me to think that we will remain faithful to Jesus and persevere through serious pain and persecution (2 Cor. 11:23-29) if we can't even do the things that are relatively easy to do and involve such little sacrifice now (Rom. 5:3-5). You may have sung the popular song "though none go with me".  I call it the Peter song (Matt. 26:33).  Will you follow if none go with you? Will I? I certainly am not confident enough to make that claim and only hope that God will sanctify me so that I will be faithful to the end. Hebrews 12:1-3  12 Therefore, since we have so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us also lay aside every encumbrance and the sin which so easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
3 For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.
As My Friend Matt T. say's "finish Strong"
We will continue to lose our freedoms to serve God and love our neighbors as ourselves (especially the preborn) if we do not work hard to impact our culture now. Joining the 3rd Saturday outreach provides this opportunity.
Francis Schaeffer said in 1982 that if the Christians in America do not repent we will become like the church in Europe and be completely irrelevant to our culture.  We haven't and we have. And the passing of amendment 79 here in Colorado is evidence of it.

Mark: Father of 12 children, including 3 that did not survive birth.  I am  convinced that all human beings are of great worth because they are made in the image of God and that it is always wrong to take the life of an innocent human being.
I am further convinced that there is great need for repentance in our nation for all of this innocent bloodshed and amongst Christian's for their failure to identify the victims of this present holocaust in any manor which might compel them to intervene on their behalf.
